BOSLAB

Knowledge Base B

BOSLAB is a software and hardware integrated system developed by the State R&D Institute of Molecular Biochemistry & Biology of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in Novosibirsk that allows to measure brain activity such as brain waves (EEG), muscle activity (EMG), temperature, cardiovascular measures (ECG), skin conductance responses (SCR or GSR – galvanic skin responses) and frequency of breathing; process this data and visualize it in real time and save it in a database.

BOSLAB has been used for therapeutic purposes, such as rehabilitation of children and adolescents diagnosed with ADHD (Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). During therapeutic sessions, the patients connected to the BOSLAB device are shown various visualizations on computer screens to which they provide neurobiological feedback (their reaction to the information shown is recorded in terms of brain impulses, muscular contractions, etc). The patients can see their progress on the screens as all measured data is visualized.

BOSLAB can be used for medical treatment, military and other professional training.

To enhance the therapeutic effect and create a realistic training environment, the developers of BOSLAB have teamed up with Tradition Group Ltd. to develop a virtual reality immersive system with the help of the VirtuSphere locomotion platform and its VR peripherals.
